Notum BCA was formed to provide a boutique Building Surveying consulting service to assist designers of commercial buildings resolve building code issues during design documentation. With over 20 years’ experience in the building surveying/certification profession, its noticeable that building code requirements have increased in complexity.'
Since its introduction, the Building Code of Australia (BCA) has evolved from a prescriptive document to a performance-based document to cater for innovative design. We offer a range of Regulations Consulting services from comprehensive assessment reports on your design proposal for BCA d-t-s or performance compliance, technical advice on matters raised by a Building Certifier on a building application or other matters such as sourcing ‘evidence of suitability’.
In providing these services Notum BCA does not undertake ‘Private Building Certification’ functions on the project to manage ‘conflict of interest’ provisions under the Building Act 1975.
Experience
Notum BCA is staffed by fully qualified and Accredited Level 1 Building Surveyors (AIBS) drawing on over 20 years’ experience in the field of building surveying and certification associated with a range of Class 2 to 9 buildings. Developers etc to provide timely professional advice at any stage during the building design process.

Notum BCAs primary focus is providing BCA (Building Code of Australia) and Regulations Consulting services to facilitate achieving a compliant design proposal.
Adding Value
The consulting services offered by Notum BCA can be tailored to suit any stage in the development of the building design for new builds, alterations/additions and fit-outs.
Building code compliance assessment reports are supplemented with marked-up plans where appropriate. Services can extend beyond the building design/pre-approval stage of your building where we may be able to assist with resolving issues identified by a Private Certifier during the approval/inspection process for a building e.g. sourcing ‘evidence of suitability’ documentation.
Note- Notum BCA do not carry out defect inspections, pre-purchase inspections or forensic reporting for claims, complaints or other actions.
